What do Worms eat

We've included a menu of some of the things worms like to eat. They like most organic waste but will not eat anything inorganic, like plastic. They will only eat harder foods after they have been softened by natural degradation. That doesn't mean you should exclude these foods. Just don't be concerned if it takes awhile for them to disappear. It's all part of the vermicomposting process. It helps speed up the whole process to break up,mulch or puree all harder wastes , but it isn't a requirement.

Numerous things affect how much your worms will eat. For example, they are more active at room temperature than at 10 °. A general rule is that they will consume approximately their body weight in food waste per day. Consequently, if you purchased 1kg of worms, you can expect them to consume about 1kg. of waste per day.

Overfeeding can lead to odour problems. If you suspect you have fed too much, stop feeding and allow the worms to catch up. As your worm population increases, you can add more waste.
